With bent brow he peers above wire-rimmed glasses resting near the tip of his nose, his gaze descending upon three dozen young under-(frontal lobe)-developed college freshmen. With blatant contempt for the values that built a great nation and provided him a platform to stand above the impressionable, the pretentious PhD addresses his barely post-adolescent pupils. The world needs extremists in order to expose the fallacy of extremism. We should never fear another person's opinion, even when dressed in a suite, or a robe or a collar. Our job is to think for ourselves and to weigh and measure the message not the messenger.
ReplyDeleteAs for Bill Gates, (even though I'm a Mac guy), he worked for his money. He took risks and has been fabulously rewarded. He also pays much more in taxes than I will have ever earned in my lifetime and he has given and pledges to give a much larger portion of his wealth back to the common good. In these respects, he absolutely represents the best capitalism has to offer. Capitalism is about opportunity. Who can be against that?
Since more and more people are not enough educated in sub standard schools and subject to brainwashing,they will believe politicians who promise them something for nothing and there we are ruled by dishonest people who don't believe in the private initiative and people's success and only want power for themselves and big expensive,corrupt government. I hope the American people find a way to prosper in spite of our worthless government. The more successful people are, the more taxes the government receives instead of having to take it. Is that so hard to understand...(Ex. Bill Gates)

ReplyDeleteGreat column, although as the wife of a college instructor I wish we pulled in a six figure income. Unfortunately it's the other way around: The grade school teachers make more with a college education than he does with two advanced degrees.
