Quotes of the Day: On Human Nature

As I forever study market and economic history (or history in general), I never cease to be amazed at how, while technology has evolved beyond our wildest dreams, human nature has clearly not evolved by a single iota.

In other words:

"We all love a good story, a concise explanation of how the world works. We all love an easy buck. Temptation has driven human folly for centuries, whether the serpent in the Garden of Eden or the market manias of cryptocurrency or artificial intelligence. Each wave seduces us into thinking that we’ve learned from history and, this time, we can’t be fooled.

Then it happens again."

-- Andrew Ross Sorkin, (from his book titled 1929)

I.e., in a nutshell:

"There has been outward progress from the bullock cart to the jet plane but psychologically the individual has not changed at all..."

-- J. Krishnamurti
